Lake Marble Falls
In the Highland Lakes of Central Texas
Lake Marble Falls, the newest of the Highland Lakes, is a constant-level lake on the Colorado River in the central Texas Hill Country. Formed by the construction of Max Starcke Dam in 1951, the lake is 5.75 miles long and 1,080 feet wide at its widest point. It's a popular spot for boating and water-skiing.
Located in the booming town of Marble Falls, about 45 miles northwest of Austin, the lake is home to the LakeFest Drag Boat Races, a massive three-day event. To get there from Austin, take Highway 71 and then Highway 281 north, or travel west on Highway 1431 from Cedar Park.
The Marble Falls area offers a variety of lodging options, including RV parks, bed & breakfast inns, motels, and cabins. Visitors will find ample shopping opportunities, from antique and gift shops to a Walmart Super Center, a large grocery store, and various restaurants.
